James Howard Jones

Owner, Funeral Director and Licensed Embalmer

James Howard Jones proudly opens the doors of JH Jones Funeral Home, LLC, to his hometown community of Milledgeville, GA. Born and raised in Milledgeville, James graduated from Baldwin High School in 1978. He later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he gained valuable experience working as an Outpatient Coordinator in the Emory University Hospital Systems.

After seventeen years, life brought James back to Milledgeville, GA, where he seized the opportunity to pursue his passion for funeral services. He began his apprenticeship under the guidance of the late Mrs. Geneva Ball Davis and received further encouragement from the Griffin Family of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc., who supported him in reaching his career goals.

In 2014, James earned an Associate of Science Degree from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service and became a proud member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. Throughout his career, James has exemplified the highest standards required in the profession, with meticulous attention to detail that brings comfort to grieving families. His compassion and dedication provide peace of mind to those he serves.

James Howard Jones lives by the motto, "If I can help somebody as I travel along the way, then my living will not be in vain," a principle that guides his work and life.

Elisa Timmons, Licensed Funeral Services apprentice. Graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Services in 2020 with an Associate of Science in Funeral Services. She has always had a deep interest in the funeral business in all aspects, with a passion for helping people in their time of grief. Elisa has over 6 years in the funeral business.
